 Catherine's Piano Studio
Studio Policy

1.     Lessons must be paid for at the beginning of each month by cheque for the corresponding number of days in the month. If payment is not received by the 15th of the month, a $15 late fee will be incurred and lessons will be suspended until lessons are paid. There is a $20 fee for any returned cheques.
2.     Fall, Winter and Spring Session begins in September and ends on June 30th. Summer Session begins July 2nd and ends August 30th. There will be no lessons on the following holidays: Labour Day; Thanksgiving Day; Christmas Break; Family day; Mid-Winter Break; Good Friday; and Victoria Day.
3.     One month’s notice must be given prior to termination of lessons and all fees must be up to date.
4.     Books and materials will be provided by the teacher and reimbursed by the student on the following lesson.
5.  Parental involvement in the progress of the student is encouraged. The assignment notebook is a means of weekly communication about expectations, assignments, scheduling reminders, and progress. Parents are welcome to attend lessons.
6.     Students need a daily, non-interrupted time to practice. Time will vary according to teacher assignments and student levels.
7.     Students are given the option to participate in studio recitals, exam workshops, and retirement home recitals. There will be a small fee for the studio recital to help cover costs of the rental space. RCM examinations are also available.
8.     The students must not enter into examinations, performances or auditions without the prior knowledge and approval of the teacher.
9.   If a student isn’t progressing well (isn’t practising regularly, missing lessons), the teacher reserves the right to terminate lessons.
10. No allowance will be made for lessons missed by students, except by special arrangement in the cases of prolonged illness. If a student does not show up to a lesson without 24 hours notice, then the lesson is forfeit. A make-up lesson will be scheduled to the convenience of the teacher’s availability.
11. Do not bring your child to the lesson if they are ill or running a fever.
12. In the event of the teacher’s absence, adjustments will be made.
13. Time lost because of a student’s lateness cannot be made up.
14. No food or gum in the studio. Only nut-free snacks are permitted in the waiting area. Students must wash hands before lessons.
15. Teachers respect the provision of Federal Legislation regarding protection of privacy. Personal information provided by parents will not be shared with others without express authorization by parents.
16. Teachers are bound by the Code of Ethics contained in the By-Laws of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers’ Association.
